Generating Udin

Feb 20, 2019 By Admin

Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) is an 18 character unique number, which will be generated by the system for every document certified/ attested by a Chartered Accountant and registered with the UDIN Portal.

In several cases it was noticed that financial documents/ certificates attested by third person misrepresenting themselves as CA Members are misleading the Authorities and Stakeholders. There was also number of complaints of signatures of CAs being forged by non-CAs. To curb the malpractices, the ICAI has implemented in phased manner an innovative concept of UDIN for all Certificates, being made mandatory with effect from February 1st 2019.

Steps for Generating UDIN:

1. First time signup: If you haven’t registered for userid & password at the portal then you need to go through this step. Here you enter your details like Membership No., Date of Birth, Year of Enrollment and verify all this with the OTP sent to your registered mobile no.

2. Membership Login: Here you enter the userid & password previously generated. The first task in this step is to reset your password.

3. Generating UDIN: In this step you generate UDIN after entering details like Membership No., Member Name, email Id, Document Type, etc. and verify this with OTP and submit to generate UDIN.

Chartered Accountants having full-time Certificate of Practice can register on UDIN Portal and generate UDIN by registering the certificates attested/certified by them.
