No Gst On Sales At Duty-free Stores

A ruling by Allahabad High Court on GST at Duty-Free Stores brings relief for international travellers buying perfumes, chocolates and liquor at the duty free stores. Until now there has been confusion over the implementation of GST at the goods sold at these stores but now the ruling has made clear that no GST shall be levied at such stores.
The Court has held that GST will not be levied as the goods never cross the customs border and the passengers carry these items as their personal effect. It is to be noted that there have been multiple rulings on implementation of GST at duty-free shops thus creating a sense of confusion among those buying goods at these stores.
